Andy Teirstein is a composer, teacher, performer, writer and producer. His work has been described by The New York Times as 'magical', 'ingenious' and 'superbly crafted'. A student of Leonard Bernstein and Henry Brant, Teirstein composes for concert hall, film (BBC, PBS), theater, and dance. Dance critic Deborah Jowitt stated that his music «seems to speak in celestial accents of some utopia whose chief industry is dancing», and he has composed often for choreographers. His recent CDs include Restless Nation and Open Crossings.
